Motorola sure got a lot of attention last year when the launched the Moto X. Unfortunately, the company decided that it would only sell the device in the United States, Canada, and that’s about it. If you live in Europe or Asia, you had to wait a few months after the launch of the Moto X to buy the Moto G. Now don’t get me wrong, the Moto G is amazing, I should know because I have one, but it’s definitely not the flagship phone that Western media outlets are drooling over.
According to Pocket-lint, 2014 may be the year us Europeans finally get the Moto X. The UK site has received an invitation to an event in London due to take place on the 14th. That’s next Tuesday. The text reads: “Following the global launch of the Moto G, we would like to invite you to join us on the next step of Motorola’s journey, as we welcome a new addition to the European Motorola family of products.”
Let’s assume for a second that we’re all wrong and that the Moto X will indeed remain a US only device. What else could Motorola be announcing? Considering smartphone penetration is so high in Europe, what about a tablet? Sure, the Nexus 7 is already on sale via the Google Play Store in a handful of countries, but maybe Motorola can take the Moto G formula and apply it to tablets to launch an even cheaper product, maybe even sub 150 Euro.
Either way, we’ll find out soon enough what’s what.
