Motorola Connect app

When Motorola launched the Moto X, it came with plenty of features tucked inside the software to make the device stand out, one of which was Moto Assist. Another, not even considered an application on any of the Moto devices in the lineup, is Connect. Now, though, Motorola has decided to graduate it to a real app.

Motorola Connect is now available in the Google Play Store as a stand-alone application, and an update to the service on devices will bring Connect out of the depths of Settings, where it had lived out its life so far, and placed it right in the application tray. It has its own icon and everything now!

With the update, Motorola has also thrown in a new feature to go along with a Google Chrome extension, and that’s the ability to “Ring my phone,” which does exactly what you think it does. If you’re on your computer and you realize that your phone’s not next to you, you can activate the feature to make the handset start ringing.

Motorola Connect is available for the Moto X, Moto E and Moto G, as well as some Motorola Droid-branded devices running Android 4.4 KitKat. It’s free, and available now.
