Moto Z Play official

Lenovo and Motorola officially announced the new Moto Z family of handsets not too long ago, and now the companies are back at it again with a brand new member.

As previously rumored, the Moto Z Play is, in fact, a real phone, and now it’s officially official. Days before the start of IFA 2016, Lenovo and Motorola have announced the Moto Z Play. The newest smartphone to support MotoMod accessories features a 5.5-inch 1080p HD Super AMOLED display, with an octa-core processor under the hood, 32GB of built-in storage, and 3GB of RAM.

There’s a 16-megapixel camera on the back, with a 5MP front-facing shooter on the other side. There’s a microSD card slot for expandable storage, a battery that’s measured in at 3510mAh, and there’s a USB Type-C port on the bottom. There is also a 3.5mm headphone jack, too — something missing from the flagship Moto Z Droid and Moto Z Force Droid.

That’s the other important part: The Moto Z Play is a Verizon exclusive at launch, with pre-orders going live in September 8. Motorola did confirm that an unlocked variant of the Moto Z Play, along with the Moto Z itself, will be available for AT&T and T-Mobile customers beginning sometime in October.

Moto Z Hasselblad official

And, finally, the MotoMod Hasselblad True Zoom is now official as well. It includes a 10x optical zoom, OIS, and a Xenon flash. There is also a physical shutter button as well. It will be available across the globe beginning this September, with pre-orders kicking off September 8. It’ll be priced at €299 in Europe, and $299 from Motorola directly in the United States. From Verizon, the Big Red carrier will retail for $249.99.
