Punit Soni, VP of Product Management at Motorola Mobility, has confirmed to a user’s query that the Moto X will indeed be getting the Android L update.

This news should not really come as a surprise since the Moto X is still less than 18 months old and Motorola has been in the forefront in quickly updating its devices to the latest version of Android. However, an official confirmation straight from the horse’s mouth is always welcomed.

Punit, however, did not mention any specific timeframe as to when the update should be available for Moto X owners. Looking at Motorola’s recent update history though, the wait should not really be long enough.

Regarding the delay of the Android 4.4.4 for the AT&T variant of the Moto X, Punit said that the company is really trying to speed things up, hinting that the reason behind the delay might be AT&T.
