When Motorola announced the Moto G earlier this week and said it would come to 30 countries over the course of the next few months, I started to get a bad feeling that the news also meant the Moto X would never leave the Americas. Turns out I might be wrong. According to the guys at TechRadar, who was at the launch event of the Moto G in London, the Moto X is poised to come to Europe. Marcus Frost, Motorola’s Senior Marketing Director for Europe, the Middle East, and Africa, said:

“The reception of Moto X has been fantastic and we’re continuously perusing opportunities in the EMEA region, so really watch this space.”

While that sounds vague, Magnus Ahlqvist, Motorola’s VP for EMEA, added:

“We are serious about Europe and we want to bring strong propositions to the market.”

What’s so special about the Moto X? Despite having a 4.7 inch screen, it’s only marginally bigger than the 4.0 inch iPhone 5, which is quite the achievement. The device also uses a different file system than most Android phone, which makes it as snappy as today’s flagships from Samsung and HTC, despite the fact the Moto X “only” has a dual core processor.

Let’s also not forget about the phone’s software. There’s active notifications, so you can see your latest notification with just one tap. There’s Motorola Assist, which learns about how you use your phone and configures things like driving mode and sleep mode automatically. And my favorite, touchless controls. Who wouldn’t want to ask their phone a question while it’s charging in the corner of the room and get an answer?!
