Motorola has started rolling out the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update for the Moto X (2014) Pure Edition (XT1095). The company had already updated its current flagship, the Moto X Pure/Style, to Marshmallow earlier this month.

If you own a Moto X (2014) Pure Edition, simply head over to Settings -> About Phone -> System updates and check for updates. The 884MB update should then show up on your device and automatically start downloading. If the update does not show up on your handset for some reason, you can download the OTA update from here and then manually sideload it to your device.

The Marshmallow update should bring about a noticeable improvement in the battery life of the Moto X (2014) thanks to features like Doze and App Standby. Do note that Motorola is retiring a few of its apps and services with the Marshmallow update, including Moto Assist and Moto Connect.

Sadly, Motorola does not intend on updating the carrier variants of the Moto X (2014) to Marshmallow in the United States.

Thanks Alan for the tip!
