Indian consumers have been awaiting the launch of the Moto G ever since the device was made official by the soon-to-be-owned-by-Lenovo Motorola, and that wait is finally coming to an end today. The Moto G has been launched in the country, at the price of Rs 12,499 for the 8 GB version and Rs 13,999 for the 16 GB model, both with dual SIM slots, making it an instant recommendation for anyone looking to buy a smartphone costing less than Rs. 15,000.
The premium budget smartphone is exclusive to online retailer Flipkart, at least for the first few weeks of availability. To entice consumers, Flipkart is offering first-day buyers numerous offers, including a 70 percent discount on the phone’s colorful shells, free content such as e-books, and even a chance to get full cashback in the form of store credits, all of which should help move a number of units of the initial day of launch.
To recap its specifications, the Moto G sports a 4.5-inch 720p LCD display, 1.2GHz Snapdragon 400 quad-core CPU, 1GB of RAM, a 5-megapixel rear camera, 1.3-megapixel front shooter, a 2,070 mAh battery, dual SIM slots, and Android 4.3 Jelly Bean. It’s upgradeable to Android 4.4 KitKat, though it remains to be seen just how long it will take for the update to become available for Indian users.
