Motorola and Lenovo today unveiled the third generation Moto E. Being called the Moto E3, the handset comes with a 5-inch 720p display, up from the 4.5-inch display found on its predecessor. The display is not protected by Corning’s Gorilla Glass, but instead features a “smudge-resistant screen protector.”
The handset also comes with a quad-core chipset, likely a Snapdragon 410, a microSD card slot, and a 2800mAh battery. There is also an 8MP shooter at the rear of the handset, while the front houses a 5MP selfie. The Moto E3 continues to feature a plastic body, but this time around it is splash-resistant. The handset will run on Android 6.0 Marshmallow out of the box.
The budget handset has been priced at £99 in the United Kingdom without any contract, which is slightly higher than its predecessor. Motorola has not divulged any other details of the Moto E3 for now, but be rest assured that more details about it should be available before its launch in September.
The original Moto E and the second generation Moto E were a huge success for Motorola in India. So, it is surprising to see the company announce the UK pricing of the handset first, and not the Asian market.
