Motorola today announced that its fitness focused Android Wear running smartwatch, the Moto 360 Sport, will be available starting December 18 in France and the United Kingdom. The smartwatch was first unveiled by Motorola towards the end of August this year along side the 2nd gen. Moto 360.
Designed for outdoor activities, the Moto 360 Sport comes with a 1.37-inch ‘AnyLight Hybrid Display’ that makes it possible to view things clearly when indoors or outdoors. Ditching the leather and steels straps, the 360 Sport features a silicone construction making it resistant to sweat. The design also provides for proper ventilation to keep the area around your wrist cool.
To be able to better track your runs and to make sure you don’t need to carry your phone for your run, the Moto 360 Sport comes with a built-in GPS functionality. In addition, the heart rate scanner on the smartwatch is capable of tracking your heart rate during a run to keep track of how many calories you are burning.
The Moto 360 Sport comes with Motorola’s Moto Body app that is capable of fully taking advantage of all the features offered by the smartwatch. Beside being able to sync your workout data with Google Fit, Strava and other similar platforms, the Moto Body app will provide you notifications and inspiring quotes throughout the day. It will also send you a weekly summary detailing all your workouts and your progress.
The Moto 360 Sport will be available for $299. It will be making its way to France and the U.K. from December 18, while customers in the U.S. will be able to get their hands on it from January 7. The watch will also be making its way to Best Buy and Motorola’s own Moto Shop in Chicago by January 10. Motorola also plans on launching the 360 Sport in Brazil, China, Spain, Mexico, and Canada in 2016.
