Motorola has confirmed through Twitter that the original Moto 360 will not be receiving the Android Wear 2.0 update. Announced in Google I/O this year, Android Wear 2.0 comes with some major navigational and watch face improvements, and new features like a keyboard, and more.

The original Moto 360 was released back in September 2014, and it made use of an almost six-year old chipset. So, it is not surprising that Motorola has decided to not update the smartwatch anymore. Considering that the smartwatch is less than two years old at this point, this sure is a disappointing move from Motorola. However, most buyers of the smartwatch were likely aware of its relatively shorter update lifecycle due to its outdated internals.

On the positive side, Motorola will continue to provide security patch updates to the 1st gen. Moto 360 from time to time.

The Moto 360 is not the only watch that will not support Android Wear 2.0. The LG  Watch will also not be receiving the AW 2.0 update, though is more likely to do with the lack of a physical button on it rather than outdated internals.
