In addition to releasing the final version of Word, Excel and PowerPoint for Android tablets, Microsoft also announced a preview version of Outlook for Android. Just like its desktop counterpart, Outlook for Android brings your calendar, emails, contacts and cloud-based files together to redefine the “future of mobile email.”
The app automatically separates your email into “Focused” and “Other” with all your important emails residing in the former and your newsletter subscriptions and other mails being available under the latter.
The app makes use of gestures to allow you to stay on top of your inbox. The customisable gestures allow you to quickly archive, schedule, delete, move, flag or mark a mail as read/unread. You can also “Schedule Email” so that they are temporarily removed from your inbox, but will return back in your inbox at the specified time. The app tightly integrates with your calendars, allowing you quickly schedule a meeting, view meeting details and more.
The strong integration with your calendars allows Outlook to offer certain unique features as well, including an extremely useful “Send Availability” feature, which will allow you to quickly find and share your available meeting times in an email, and if needed, even create an invite for it.

Outlook for Android has been optimized for tablets as well, where the additional screen estate is used to display additional information like a two-pane email view, week view in Calendar and more.
Outlook for Android can sync your mails, contacts, calendar and other files from the following services:
- Office 365
- Exchange Online
- Exhange Server
- Outlook.com
- MSN
- Hotmail Live
- Gmail
- iCloud
- Yahoo Mail
- OneDrive
- Dropbox
- Google Drive
- Box
While Microsoft has released the final version of Outlook for iOS, the Android version comes with a preview moniker because it is behind its iOS sibling in terms of features and performance.
