Microsoft’s OneNote for Android has been available for quite some time now, and for users that have made it their go-to note taking app, it’s just received a pretty sizable update that should make users plenty happy.
Announced officially on the OneNote blog, OneNote for Android is now getting a major update that will address plenty of oft-requested features, including OneNote Ribbons, stability improvements, some bug squashing and more. Of course, those are just the smaller details. It’s the big carrots that most people will look forward to.
And that includes handwriting support in the new app, as noted as being one of the most requested features for the app since its launch:
“Handwriting support has been the biggest feature request and we have listened to your feedback! If you have an Android tablet, say goodbye to pen and paper because now you have OneNote to take notes during lectures or meetings. With this update you can take handwritten notes, draw with your stylus and even with your finger. Your notes will sync across all your devices, helping you access them easily and stay organized.“
You’ll be able to annotate on top of text, all with the goal of making it feel as fluid as writing on a piece of paper. You’ll also be able to highlight important parts as you’re studying if you are into that sort of thing.
The new app also comes with native, full tablet support, which means a redesigned layout that will better suit your devices with larger displays:
“We have completely redesigned the UI to fit your Android tablet. The new tablet navigation lets you scan through your notebooks and sections so you change to your notes quickly.“
The update is now rolling out to the OneNote for Android users, and it should be available in the Google Play Store now.
