Earlier this year, Microsoft announced that it would be bringing its digital assistant Cortana to Android and iOS. While the iOS version of the app will be available towards the end of this year, the Android version was stated to be released sometime in late June.
Down the line though, Microsoft ended up revising its time frame and pushed the release of Cortana for Android to sometime in late July. Now, while the Redmond company has not yet released its digital assistant for Android, an APK of the app has leaked on the Internet.
If you are interested in trying out Cortana for yourself, you can grab the APK from here. Make sure to grab it before it is taken down though.
In my quick testing, the leaked APK of Cortana for Android seemed to work well on my LG G4. During the initial setup, Cortana will prompt you to assign yourself a nickname after which you will be prompted to sign into your Microsoft account for better suggestions and recommendations.
It is also possible that the leaked APK of Cortana is what Microsoft intends to release on the Google Play Store sometime later today or early next week. Nonetheless, if you ended up installing the leaked APK of Cortana on your Android device, do drop in a comment and let us know your experience with Microsoft’s virtual assistant.
