Samsung’s latest flagships — the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 edge — come with three Microsoft apps pre-loaded across the globe. Samsung is pre-loading these apps on its handset as a part of its new deal with Microsoft that will in turn see it pay less royalty to the Redmond company.
However, it looks like AT&T and Verizon are not on-board with the idea of pre-loading Microsoft apps and services on their variants of the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 edge. While all the three apps — OneDrive, Skype and OneNote — are missing from Verizon’s variant, AT&T is only removing OneDrive from its unit of the Galaxy S6 and S6 edge.
Owners of these handsets can always download the apps for free from the Google Play Store, though they will presumably not be entitled to the free 100GB of storage space on OneDrive that Microsoft and Samsung are bundling with the handset.
It was only earlier today that Microsoft announced a partnership with Cyanogen Inc. that will see the latter ship the Redmond company’s apps and services in its open source OS.
