China’s smartphone manufacturer Meizu was scheduled for a update to the MX 5 line of devices, however, this seemed a bleak possibility until today. If the rumour mills are to be trusted, Meizu is set to unveil the Meizu MX6, a successor to the MX 5, on the 19th of July.

Earlier in April when Meizu announced the launch of the Meizu PRO 6, a follow-up to last year November’s Meizu PRO 5, there were rumours that the device would spell the end of the MX line-up. These rumours found their validation from the high-end specs of the PRO 6 — a 5.2″ display and a MediaTek Helio X25 SoC

Though the PRO 6 departed from the PRO 5’s Samsung Exynos 7420 SoC and larger display, that mantle has not been passed on to the upcoming Meizu MX 6. If the rumours are to be trusted, the Meizu MX6 will come with a 5.5-inch display and a MediaTek Helio X20 SoC. The device will allegedly come in 32 and 64GB storage variants with 3 or 4GB of RAM. It’s rear camera has, surprisingly, the same number of megapixels as the MX 5 — 20.7 to be precise, while the front camera is an 8MP shooter, an upgrade from the 5MP on the predecessor.

Though the Meizu MX6 does sport a larger screen than the PRO 6, it has less horsepower under the hood. Yet, once again, these are just rumours, as the alleged date rolls closer, we would hopefully have more concrete evidence of how much is true.

However, let us know in the comments below, if you have heard anything else on the specs from a different source.
