Meizu is a relatively unknown phone maker outside of China that is known for making iPhone lookalikes running on its own highly modified version of Android — FlymeOS.

Now, in a developer meet held in Chengdu, Meizu has announced that it plans on bringing its FlymeOS to other devices from its competitors as well.

While the company did not mention the exact handset models, it did say the name of companies which includes Huawei, OnePlus, Oppo, ZTE, LG and even Nokia. The company has already managed to port its Flyme OS 3.0 to the Samsung Galaxy S4 and the Nexus 4.

Meizu’s chief competitor, Xiaomi, also follows a similar strategy by releasing its own OS — MIUI — for devices sold by other OEMs. It is not yet clear as to what monetarily benefit this move will give to Meizu. The only non-monetary advantage I can think of is a slight increase in its user base for its Flyme OS.

Meizu did not provide any time frame as to when it would be releasing the builds to the public though.
