Huawei today announced that it will “soon” start rolling out the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update for the Honor 5X.
The tweet was posted by the Honor’s US account on Twitter, so it presumably means that the Marshmallow update for the handset will start rolling out in that region first before being available in other parts of the world.

The Marshmallow update should help in improving the battery life of the honor 5x further thanks to features like Doze and App Standby introduced by Google in the OS. It should also help in alleviating the performance issues of the phone. Privacy freaks will also appreciate the introduction of the Permissions manager that will allow them to control the various permissions that an app requests.
Huawei did not provide any official timeframe for the update to land, so a “coming soon” can mean anywhere between a couple of weeks to a month.
For its price ($199), the Honor 5X packs in plenty of punch. It comes with an aluminium unibody, a 5.5-inch Full HD display, Snapdragon 616 chipset, 13MP rear shooter, a fingerprint scanner, and a 3,000mAh battery. While you can find plenty of more powerful options in the Chinese market in that range, the honor 5x offers an unbeatable value for money in the US market.
