LG has silently started rolling out the Android 5.0 Lollipop update for the Google Play edition of the LG G Pad 8.3. This makes it the first OEM to roll out the Lollipop update for its GPE device.
HTC was initially expected to become the first OEM to roll out the Lollipop update for the GPe variant of the One M8 and M7, but it had to delay the update twice because of some QA and technical issues.
The Lollipop update for the G Pad 8.3 does not really pack in much surprises. It contains all the new features found in the Nexus devices, including Smart Lock, fluid new animations and Material Design, a new notification system and more.
Besides the G Pad, the Nvidia SHIELD and the Nexus tablets from Google are the only one in the market that are currently running Android 5.0.
If you own a G Pad 8.3 GPE, you can wait for the OTA update to land on your device, or alternatively download the ZIP from here and push it manually to the device via ADB.
