Samsung has teamed up with Asiana Airlines to launch a special edition of the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Plus in Korea, its home market. The Asiana edition of the Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus can be purchased between April 7 to April 17 — the same time during which the normal edition of the handsets will be on pre-order.
Samsung will only be selling 2,000 units of the special edition Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus that features a special Asiana theme and an Asiana logo on the boot screen. Customers will be able to get the handset for a discount provided they are ready to shell out 30,000 mileage points.
Korea’s SK Telecom will be the only operator selling this special edition of the Galaxy S8 and S8+ (GB RAM/128GB storage). The handset can be purchased directly through Asiana Airlines website.
Teaming up with an airline to launch a special edition of a handset sure is a weird move, but Samsung did the same thing with the Galaxy S7 last year. Last year though, Samsung was offering some pre-bundled apps from Asiana on the Galaxy S7 but it looks like the company has not taken a similar approach this year.
Will you buy a special edition of the Galaxy S8 or Galaxy S8+ if it launched in your country? If yes, why?
