LG today announced its new Android running handset — the Wine Smart. The handset is unlike any other Android device released in the last few years, and sports the now forgotten clamshell form factor.
The flip phone sports a puny 3.5-inch LCD display with a absurdly low HVGA (320 x 480) resolution. Other specs of the device are pretty standard and include a 1.2GHz quad-core processor, 1GB RAM, 4GB internal storage, a microSD card slot and a 1700mAh battery.
The Wine Smart also comes with a LED at its bottom-left front to notify the users of their missed calls and other such important notifications. There is also a 1-Watt speaker on the back of the handset. While the Wine Smart runs on Android 4.4.4 KitKat, LG has customized the UI to make it easier for older and technologically challeneged people to use.
Besides its physical keypad, the Wine Smart also comes with a ‘Safe Keeper’ function, which automatically sends the location data of the phone to a pre-defined number if it remains unused for a long time.
LG has sold over 5 million ‘Wine Phone’ series handsets since it introduced the brand in 2007. The Wine Smart will be available in Black and White colors from September 26th in LG’s home market — South Korea.
