Just a couple of weeks before Mobile World Congress 2015, LG has announced its third Android Wear running smartwatch — the Watch Urbane.
The watch is based on the company’s G Watch R smartwatch that was unveiled last year at IFA, but its design has been tweaked to make the Urbane slimmer and lighter. The “luxury” stainless steel body of the watch has been given a scratch and corrosion resistant treatment with the bezel on the front of the display also being reduced in size to give the watch a premium and formal look.
The Urbane will be available in Gold and Silver, and will come with a stylised stitched leather strap. You can always swap out the band with any 22m band of your liking as well. LG also boasts about the analog watch face on its latest smartwatch, which it says looks very similar to an analog watch.
Specs wise, the Urbane is basically a G Watch R and retains the same 1.3-inch P-OLED display, 512MB RAM, 410mAh battery, Snapdragon 400 processor, and an IP67 rating. It runs on the latest version of Android Wear and is compatible with all Android devices running Android 4.3 or higher.
LG will provide more details about the pricing and release date of the Urbane at the Mobile World Congress next month. However, looking at how LG is marketing the Urbane as a luxury smartwatch, don’t expect it to be available for cheap.
