LG UX 5.0

LG today sent out a press release detailing its new UX that will be running on the LG G5 — the LG UX 5.0, which the company has designed for a “more playful and innovative mobile experience.”

The Korean company says that the highlight of the UX 5.0 is LG Friends Manager that allows users to easily manage and control various modules, dubbed LG Friends, for the LG G5. The application detects any nearby accessories and for easy pairing, it is able to directly download and install all the required files from the Google Play Store.

“We analyzed the lifestyle of smartphone users to provide a superior mobile experience and greatly expanded the usability with LG UX 5.0,” said Juno Cho, president and CEO of LG Electronics Mobile Communications Company. “LG UX 5.0 and G5 were designed to provide an innovative user experience that reflects the needs of our most demanding customers.”

LG laid great emphasis with its UX 4.0 on the camera app, and with UX 5.0, it is taking things to a new level altogether. The new Camera app in LG’s UX 5.0 sports features like Zoom In & out, Auto Shot, Multi View, 360 wallpaper, pop-out picture and film effect.

LG also notes that it has further refined its UI and built-in applications for enhanced usability. One such change is the new launcher that now comes with a combined home screen and app drawer. The company has also updated its Health app to provide two different modes: Beginner and Advanced. Other new features in UX 5.0 include Always-on that keeps the screen of the G5 always-on to display notification and time; Smart Doctor to keep the G5 at its optimal health; a built-in File Manager; and more.

The LG G5 will be the first handset from LG to feature its new UX 5.0. The handset is slated to go on sale in most regions of the world from April 1.
