Do me a favor. Put on a pair of headphones, hit play on the video below, and close your eyes. Now tell me, don’t you think that music sounds exactly like the music that Samsung used* for the GS4 launch earlier this year?

More on point, what you just saw (or didn’t if you followed my instructions) was a teaser video that LG uploaded over the weekend for their G2 product launch. The company is going to hold a press conference in New York City on August 7th. Today is the 8th, which means we’re officially less than one month out.

What’s the G2 all about? It’s been pretty much leaked to high heaven, so here’s what you need to know: Snapdragon 800 inside, 5.2 inch 1080p screen, 13 megapixel camera with optical image stabilization, volume buttons and what appears to be a fingerprint scanner embedded on the back of the device. Oh and the phone will have no front facing buttons, similar to the Nexus 4.

Should you keep your wallet closed until the G2 gets announced? No. LG has failed to prove that they care about their software. They shamelessly clone Samsung’s stuff, which I can live with actually. Their gravest offense if a total lack of updates. The predecessor to the G2, aptly called the G, is still on Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich in some markets.

And that’s just bullshit.
