LG released the Stylus 2 back in February this year and now, they have launched the LG Stylus 2 Plus with more RAM, a Full HD screen and a faster processor. If you thought that the ‘Plus’ moniker added to the name meant that it had a larger screen, you will be disappointed as it only represents that this is a higher specification device — for this case.
If you were about to forgive the gaff of using the ‘Plus’ to denote that the device is of higher specs instead of a bigger screen size, then you are going to be disappointed as the goof-up by LG goes further than this. Though the official specs of the device are a 5. (newenglandtours) 7-inch Full HD (1920 X 1280) display, a 1.4GHz Octa-Core SoC, 2GB of RAM, 16GB of on-board storage, an embedded rear-mounted fingerprint sensor, and a 3,000mAh battery, these specs are not standardised.
“LG [sic] begins its global rollout with its launch today in Taiwan. The LG Stylus 2 Plus will make its way to customers in other key markets in Asia, South America, Europe and North America in the weeks to come.” — LG Press Release
Some markets are poised to receive the device with either a 32GB storage or a 3GB RAM or both. As for the camera, the device comes with a 16MP rear shooter with a 8MP front facing camera, but again, certain markets will be endowed instead with the same camera as the LG Stylus 2 — 13MP for the rear and 5MP for the front.
The only ascertainable differences between the LG Stylus 2 and Stylus 2 Plus are thus — the upgraded screen resolution from 720p to Full HD, a faster SoC of 1.4GHz opposed to a 1.2 GHz and an upgraded RAM from the original 1.5GB.
The Stylus Pen on the device features the same technology as the LG Stylus 2 — Pen Pop and Pen Keeper. The first opens a toggle menu with shortcuts when the stylus is removed, while the later notifies the user when they stray a certain distance away from the stylus.
For now there has been no price point specified for the titan, gold or brown coloured LG Stylus 2 Plus, however, given its lower specifications the device is poised to retail at a mid-range value.
