Smart Lamp

LG has just revealed something known as the ‘Smart Lamp’ which is basically a LED based bulb that can be controlled through your smartphone. The bulb comes with several other features as well and is expected to last up to 10 years with 5 hours of use every day.

Via dedicated apps on Android 4.3+ or iOS 6+ running devices, users will be able to control the bulb to every extent, including the ability to turn it off and on. The bulb will also notify users whenever there’s an incoming call with a strobe, which can be further adjusted or modified via the settings. The bulb can also change its brightness depending on the music your Android device is playing with the help of ‘Play Mode’.

The Smart Lamp is expected to cost 35,000 Korean Won which is the equivalent of $32. It will be available in Korea initially, with global availability expected to follow soon although LG is yet to spill details on that.

Several smart bulbs like the Belkin WeMo and Philips Hue are already available in the markets with similar functionality, so LG clearly isn’t the first to launch such an accessory.
