The LG G5 has turned out to be a huge dud for the company. While the company sure had a novel idea, the poor execution has let the company’s 2016 flagship handset to be a huge disaster. Now, as per a report from ET News, LG plans on releasing the V20 in early September in hopes to boost its sagging smartphone sales, and make people forget the LG G5.
The V10 turned out to be a surprise hit for LG that did particularly well for it in the United States. The handset could have ideally done a lot better for the company, if not for its limited availability.
The Korean company had launched the original V10 in October last year. However, this time around, the company will launch the handset a month early as it would better allow it to go head to head with Samsung’s Galaxy Note 7 and Apple’s iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus.
As for the name of the handset, while it has not been confirmed yet, there is a high probability it will be called LG V20, and not V11. There are no details about the alleged specifications of the handset, but that should leak over the next couple of months.
The report also talks about Samsung launching the Galaxy Note 7 a month earlier than usual. Samsung has already sent out invites for the handset’s unveiling on August 2nd, so this is no longer a secret. By launching the Galaxy Note 7 a month earlier than usual, Samsung hopes to capitalise on the strong sales of the Galaxy S7 and S7 edge. It will also allow the company to better take on the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus when they are launched by Apple in September.
