As HTC can probably tell you, it doesn’t matter how good your products are if you can’t tell people about them and put them in the stores where people shop. This is why Samsung spends more money than god on marketing their Galaxy phones, and they also make sure you can’t walk into a Best Buy without being assaulted by an army of pimple faced teenagers wearing blue polo shirts, eager to show you how to properly use an S-Pen. So it shouldn’t be a surprise then to hear that LG wants to do the same thing.

According to The Korea Herald, LG has been having regular meetings with Best Buy in an attempt to get the American electronics chain to stock more of their products. The first product to be discussed, the LG G Pad 8.3, which has been out in Korea for a few weeks now, but isn’t supposed to reach Europe or America until the end of the year. That sort of time table is simply unacceptable in today’s age of global marketing campaigns.

Now let’s say LG is successful and gets the kind of attention they want, will their sales increase? That’s tough to say. In most consumers eyes, they’re always seen as playing second violin to Samsung’s first. The only way to overcome that reputation is to out-innovate, which may be impossible, so then there’s plan B: compete on price.

That’s a bloody way to win, but it works.
