Remember reports about LG launching a ‘super premium’ smartphone later this year? Well it looks like there was some confusion as LG Mobile’s Director Cho Joon Ho says that the company never mentioned anything about launching a ‘super premium’ smartphone.

This does not mean LG will not be releasing any handset later this year though. Cho Joon Ho says that the company will be releasing new models after the end of September that will be mainly targeted towards markets like India and China. It is unlikely that these devices will pack in high-end specs though, since they will be aimed at the medium to low-priced segment of the smartphone market in these countries.

The executive also mentioned that LG will be releasing a high-end phablet in the fourth quarter of this year, though it is unclear if it will sit above the G4 or not. It is likely that this device from LG will be targeted towards the Galaxy Note 5 and the iPhone 6s Plus.

LG is also working with Google on a new Nexus handset this year, which will likely be unveiled sometime next month along with the final release of Android 6.0 Marshmallow.
