LG has had a bit of a tumultuous last few months, with reports that the company had scrapped plans for its next flagship model in favor of something else.
Rumors about delays cropped up, even with LG trying to cut that off immediately. And now there are rumors that the company has a flagship model on the way codenamed “Judy”, and that we will see that handset debut in June. Before that happens, though, it looks like LG may have brought a handset to Mobile World Congress that won’t see the light of day, at least that’s the opinion of serial leaker Evan Blass, who brought up the original journalist’s report and hands-on video to light.
According to the report, this device is the G7 (Neo), and it may be the handset that LG scrapped to focus on the “Judy”. However, it is definitely a flagship, high-end handset in terms of specs, based on the information gathered from the hands-on. In terms of specs, the G7 (Neo) has a 6-inch OLED display with a notch, and a resolution of 3120×1440.
Under the hood, there’s a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor, either 4GB or 6GB of RAM, and either 64GB or 128GB of built-in storage. On the back, there are a pair of 16-megapixel cameras (one with an aperture of f/1.6, and the other a wide-angle lens with an aperture of f/1.9). There is an 8MP front-facing camera, and the battery is said to measure in at 3000mAh. There is a fingerprint reader on the back for good measure.
The G7 (Neo) is also said to feature DTS-X surround sound and a feature called “Boom Box”, which would turn up the bass when audio is playing and the smartphone is resting on a surface.
If this is the G7 that LG turned down, it will be interesting to see how the “Judy” flagship handset compares, especially in terms of specs, considering the G7 (Neo) is a powerhouse in its own right.
