LG continued to garner plenty of attention with the G4 in 2015, and it sounds like the company is looking to make things even better in 2016.

According to a report from Evan Blass writing for VentureBeat, and citing information gathered from an unnamed source, the G5 from the Life’s Good crew is going to be the company’s “most premium handset to date.” That includes a new design choice in an all-metal frame, as well as bringing to bear a ton of new features the company will reportedly be bringing over from other successful devices.

That includes the fingerprint reader found in the Nexus 5X, the dual-camera setup of the V10, as well as that device’s secondary display.

The camera situation on the G5 will be impressive, if the report is true. It will have two cameras on the back, the primary one being a 16-megapixel shooter. The secondary will give the first camera 135-degrees of wide-angle functionality. The device will feature four sensors, beginning with two flashes, an RGB sensor to help with scene selection and added focus, and the laser autofocus sensor as well. There will reportedly be an 8MP front-facing camera for good measure.

The G5 will reportedly also boast a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor under the hood, a battery measured in at 2800mAh, and be running Android 6.0 Marshmallow out of the box. It’ll feature 32GB of built-in storage, 3GB of RAM, and is expected to boast a microSD card slot as well. The display will be set at 5.3 inches and have a resolution of 2560×1440.

One other interesting aspect of the report is that the G5 will feature a “Magic Slot,” which will reportedly be used to connect a variety of accessories, including physical keyboards, camera accessories, and more. Details on the slot, though, remain light.

A release date is supposedly expected to arrive sometime in the first quarter of 2016.
