LG India today announced that it will start accepting pre-orders for its modular flagship smartphone of 2016, the LG G5, in the country from tomorrow. The company is accepting pre-orders online through Flipkart and at its own retail stores across the country. The pre-order period runs through May 30.

All customers who pre-book the LG G5 will also receive a free Cam Plus module along with the handset absolutely free.

The LG G5 is powered by a Snapdragon 820 chipset, an Adreno 530 GPU, and packs in 4GB RAM. The handset also features LTE connectivity, 32GB of storage space, a microSD card slot, and a removable 2800mAh battery. Of course, the highlight of the LG G5 is its modular design that makes it possible to enhance the capabilities of the handset using modules. LG is already bundling the Cam Plus module with the G5, though it remains unclear if it will also be launching the other modules a.k.a G5 Friends in the country. Last year, LG had launched a dual-SIM variant of the G4 in India due to popular demand for dual-SIM handsets in the country, so it will be interesting to see if the company employs a similar strategy this time around as well.

Surprisingly, LG’s press release did not mention anything about the official pricing of the handset, but the G5 is expected to be priced at around Rs. 49,900 mark in the country.

The LG G5 will be the second Snapdragon 820 powered handset that will be making its way to India. Up until now, the Xiaomi Mi 5 has been the only flagship phone being sold in the country that features Qualcomm’s latest and greatest chipset.
