The lack of an IR blaster on the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge this year has turned out to be a major bummer for quite a few potential owners of the handset. After including an IR blaster in almost all of its previous flagship devices released over the last 3 years, it was a strange decision from Samsung to omit it from the Galaxy S7 and S7 edge — its most perfect flagship smartphone till date.

This also led many people to question whether the LG G5 also comes with an IR blaster or not. After all, it looks like after making an appearance once again in smartphones since 2014, IR blasters seems to be on their way out this year.

Thankfully, LG has included an IR blaster on the LG G5, though this should not really be surprising for close followers of the company considering that it has included one in all its flagship devices released over the last couple of years.

Samsung had ditched the IR blaster on the Galaxy Note 5 last year itself, so it was somewhat expected from the company to ditch the IR blaster on the Galaxy S7 and S7 edge this time around which it did.

The G5 also comes with LG’s Quick Remote app that makes it possible to control all electronic household items like TV, Set top boxes, camera and other items around you using the phone itself.

While the exclusion of a IR blaster on the Galaxy S7 and S7 edge might be a small thing for many, it has turned out to be a deal breaker for many, and its presence on the G5 is definitely going to help the sales of the handsets.
