A new rumor suggests that LG will launch an upgraded version of the G3 carrying a Snapdragon 805 chipset. This move was expected as the current model comes with a Snapdragon 801 chip. It is believed that this upgraded version could be launched as soon as July, which is when Samsung is expected to launch its prime version of the Galaxy S5, the Galaxy F, as well.

Since the LG G3 is expected to launch in early July, we suggest you take this rumor with a pinch of salt. If it does turn out to be true, it’s very likely that LG will keep this new variant limited to some regions like South Korea or the U.S. as they are the crucial LTE markets for the company.

With Samsung’s Galaxy F expected to be announced in the coming weeks, we might be in for an interesting couple of months. This new revelation essentially means that users who are planning to buy an LG G3 should hold off until the end of July or maybe even August.

The report, which generates from Korea, also suggests that the smartphone will have a new Qualcomm modem on board that will support download speeds of up to 225 Mbps. This LG move could negate any advantage Samsung’s new offering will have, as the two devices will be on level as far as hardware is concerned. However, the AMOLED panel on the Galaxy F might just turn it in the favor of Samsung.
