It is known that the LG G3 could break cover later this year, as LG follows a yearly update cycle, but the exact launch date wasn’t known. However, a new rumor claims that the smartphone could be launched as early as June this year, rather than in August like its predecessor. This could be a move to make it stand out from the Nexus smartphone which usually launches in November. Interestingly, previous reports had pegged the smartphone to arrive in May, so this is a slight delay from the original rumored launch date.
The Nexus launch date has severely affected sales of LG smartphones, especially the Optimus G and the G2 over the last couple of years. So if LG could release their own flagship a couple of months earlier, it would get plenty of time in the market to attract potential buyers.
Of course, this is merely a rumor at this point, so we expect you to take it with a pinch of salt. It’s likely that the G3 would be a substantial upgrade over its predecessor, packing a QHD display and possibly a Snapdragon 805 chipset as well, which is set to go into production in mid-2014.
