LG has just announced the G3 Beat, a smaller version of its latest flagship — the LG G3. The handset sports the same floating arc design as its bigger sibling but packs in modest specs compared to it.

On the front of the handset is a 5-inch 720p display, surrounded by ultra-thin bezels that give it a screen-to-body ratio of 74.1%. Internally, it is powered by a quad-core Snapdragon 400 processor clocked at 1.2GHz, 1GB of RAM, 8GB of internal storage and a microSD card slot.

The 8MP camera at the rear is aided by an LED flash and Laser Auto Focus, while the 1.3MP camera in the front is capable of taking selfies in 720p resolution. Apart from the usual sensors and connectivity features including LTE, the G3 Beat comes with a 2540mAh removable battery.

On the software side, the G3 Beat runs on Android 4.4 KitKat and features the latest Optimus UI from LG. All the software goodies that we saw on the G3 including the Smart Keyboard, Quick Memo+, Gesture Shot and Touch & Shoot are also present on the device.

The handset will first go on sale in LG’s home country — South Korea — from July 18 and would be available in Metallic Black, Silk White and Shine Gold.
