On August 28, LG officially introduced the G Watch R, a circular smartwatch that, in some areas, improved on the design that LG introduced with their first Android Wear-based device, the G Watch earlier in 2014. Unfortunately, LG didn’t highlight just when the new device would land on store shelves. Now, a new report from The Wall Street Journal claims to know the launch date.
The new report was published on September 4, and outlines a launch date pegged for October 14, based on information provided to the publication. While the date might be good enough to get circled on a calendar in pencil at this point, unfortunately the WSJ wasn’t able to learn just where the device will launch. That could be because the finalized launch markets haven’t been decided just yet.
The Android Wear-based smartwatch features a 1.3-inch circular P-OLED display, a stainless steel construction for the main unit, and a 22mm leather band — that can be replaced if you want. There’s a Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 dual-core processor under the hood clocked at 1.2GHz, with 512MB of RAM and 4GB of built-in storage.
