LG’s growth in the mobile industry is no news to us. The company has set out to dominate the market since the launch of the Optimus G in 2012 which was followed by the cult favorite Nexus 4. A year and a half down the line, LG is on the verge of becoming one of the fastest growing mobile manufacturers in the world, overtaking even the likes of Samsung and Apple.

A report from Mirae Asset Securities Co suggests that the Korean manufacturer will sell close to 15 million smartphones in Q2 2014, which is remarkable for any company. The launch of the LG G3 in late Q2 should help greatly with this. Its popular F and L series of smartphones will cause a significant impact on the midrange market segment as well.

Remaining consistent with the Q2 sales, the company is expected to sell 60 million smartphones by the end of 2014, which isn’t as much compared to Samsung’s figures, but certainly a major growth for the company compared to last year’s sales. LG was also recently adjudged the fastest growing mobile manufacturer in the U.S.

The report stresses that it’s not just the flagship devices that are driving the sales forward — the LG G2 has apparently sold just over 3 million units so far — so we expect LG to launch more low cost and mid-tier handsets in the market soon.
