LG today expanded its K Series of smartphone lineup with the addition of the K8 and K5. Both mid-tier phones come with a premium design, with the K8 coming with a 2.5D Arc Glass at the front and a woven back cover.
The K5 comes with a metallic body, and also has a design language that is similar to other K series smartphones.
Both phones come with a 5-inch display, though the K8’s display has a Full HD resolution, while the K5 comes with an FWVGA resolution screen. Under the hood, they are powered by a 1.3GHz quad-core processor. The K8 comes with 1.5GB RAM (1GB in Latin America), 8GB internal storage, a microSD card slot, an 8MP rear camera, and a 5MP front camera. While the K8 comes with a 2,125mAh removable battery, the K5 comes with a smaller 1,900mAh removable battery. The former runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow out of the box, while the latter runs on Android 5.1.1 Lollipop. The LG K8 will be available in three colors: Gold, Indigo, and White; with the K5 being available in Gold, Silver and Titan.
LG is targeting the K8 towards consumers in Asia, Africa, the Middle East, CIS and Latin America, while the K5 is intended for customers in Europe, CIS and Latin America. The handsets will go on sale later this week.
