LG is sending members of the press an invitation to an event due to take place on May 30th in Macau, China. Considering that the LG Optimus G Pro will be out in two different countries by the time that date rolls around, I’m really confused as to what we’ll see here.
I should also point out that most companies hold launch events either in New York City or London because that’s where the media lives. For LG to hold an event in China tells me that whatever they unveil their will likely be meant for local markets.
Could LG announce the LG Optimus G2 this month? For those who haven’t heard of the device, it’s going to be the first smartphone to use Qualcomm’s new Snapdragon 800 chip. Compared to the Snapdragon 600 inside the Samsung Galaxy S4 and the HTC One, the 800 should absolutely blow the 600 out of the water. Qualcomm even said they’ll begin mass producing the Snapdragon 800 by the end of this month, so this can’t be a coincidence.
Truth be told, even if LG announced the Optimus G2 later this month, it likely isn’t going to start shipping until the end of the summer, and by then who knows what will be out.
