LG has just sent out invitations to various media outlets for an event in New York City due to take place on the first of May. The title of the invite reads “Share the Genius”, with a subhead that says “Capture the Spotlight in True Brilliance”.

What could they possibly be announcing? Earlier this month the guys at Android Central claimed that the Optimus G Pro will land on AT&T on the 20th of May. For those who haven’t heard of the G Pro, it’s a 5.5 inch 1080p smartphone with Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 600 processor and a 13 megapixel camera.

That phone is currently only available in one country: South Korea. Assuming it does land in the US, it’s going to give the Galaxy Note II some serious competition, though I’m not sure it stands a chance compared to the GS4 or HTC One. You really should check out the video review below of the G Pro to see why I feel this way.

Pocketnow says the materials feel terrible, and that the UI is a copy of Samsung’s TouchWIZ.
