Over the last month or so, we have seen quite a few leaks and rumors pointing out that the LG’s next flagship — the G3 — is going to come with a 2K or 2560 x 1440 display. Now, LG has officially confirmed to Engadget that the G2 successor will indeed come with a “Quad HD” display.
With a rumored screen size of 5.5-inches, the LG G3 will be able to deliver an eye-popping pixel density of around 530ppi. It will be interesting to see which chipset and the battery size the Korean company will go with to counter the increase in power drain, thanks to the display.
Such high-resolution displays on handsets will only benefit Chinese and Asian users, where complex text characters are rendered on the screen. Thanks to a 2K display, they will notice an increase in sharpness and clarity of the on-screen content. So, it is very well possible that LG will release two variants of the G3 — one with a 1080p panel and the second one with a 2K display — just like Oppo did with its recently released Find 7.
