LG has always revealed some information about its upcoming flagship handsets weeks before it holds any events, unlike other OEMs that announce all the key features on the day of the launch event.
The company has already confirmed that the G3 will come with a Quad HD display and today, it has revealed more information about it.
According to LG, its latest 5.5-inch AH-IPS Quad HD LCD panel sports an image resolution that is four times higher “than a Full HD panel” with a pixel density of 538 ppi. The most interesting part of the spec sheet is the weight and bezel size of the display. LG states that this display panel is a mere 1.2mm thin with a bezel of 1.15mm, a decrease of 0.05mm compared to the display panel on the G2.
With the increase in resolution, the brightness of a display takes a hit because it is difficult to raise the penetration ratio due to the increased pixels. LG, however, has managed to achieve higher brightness on its latest panel by improving the penetration ratio and aperture ratio.
LG’s latest display is scheduled to go into mass production sometime soon and will be first seen on the company’s upcoming flagship — the LG G3– which will be unveiled on May 27.
