A couple of months after its Chinese debut, Lenovo today launched the ZUK Z2 Plus in India albeit under a different name: Lenovo Z2 Plus. It is the cheapest Snapdragon 820 powered handset to launch in India so far besting even the Xiaomi Mi 5 by quite a fair bit.

Priced at Rs 17,999, the Lenovo Z2 Plus comes with a 5-inch Full HD screen and a curved 2.5 fibreglass at its rear. Taking a cue from race cars, the Z2 Plus features a roll cage design in which all the components are mounted on the metal frame that helps in improving the structural integrity of the phone. Lenovo says that this design also helps improve thermal efficiency.

Inside the Lenovo Z2 Plus is a Snapdragon 820 chipset clocked at 2.15GHz. Lenovo will be offering the handset in two variants: 32GB storage with 3GB RAM and 64GB with 4GB RAM. Other specs of the handset include a fingerprint scanner at the front that also works with wet fingers, Ant+ sensors, hybrid SIM card slot, and a 3500mAh sealed battery with a USB Type-C port.

The rear of the Z2 Plus houses a 13MP ISOCEL shooter with PDAF, EIS, and an f/2.2 aperture. It also features 1.34um large pixels and an LED flash. At the front, the handset houses an 8MP shooter with 1.4um large pixels and a wide-angle lens.

Unlike its Chinese sibling, the Lenovo Z2 Plus will not be running on CyangoenOS in India. Instead, the handset runs on a near-stock build of Android 6.0 with some useful features thrown in. This includes U-Touch 2.0 that allows the fingerprint sensor to be used for navigating around the UI; and U-Health app that tracks your steps, calories, and more.

The Lenovo Z2 Plus will be available in India exclusively on Amazon from 26th September in black and white colors. The 32GB/3GB RAM variant of the device has been priced at Rs 17,999, while the 64GB/4GB RAM variant has been priced at Rs 19,999.
