With Reliance Jio finally being opened to the public, many people are confused about whether the network supports their devices or not. Most of the popular budget to mid-range devices released in India over the last 1-1.5 years support Jio’s 4G bands.
However, despite the necessary bands, some of these handsets only support Jio’s LTE network and not VoLTE. Without VoLTE, one cannot make or receive calls on Jio’s network, though a workaround does exist. The lack of a VoLTE support is not a big deal since it can be added to a device that has support for all the necessary bands via an OTA update from the OEM.
Lenovo is the biggest culprit in this department as almost all its handsets do not support VoLTE on Jio’s network. This includes its popular devices like the Vibe K5 Note, Vibe K4 Note, K3 Note, Vibe K5 Plus, and more. While 4G will work just fine on the phone, users will need to use Reliance’s Jio4GVoice application to make calls on such phones.
A list of devices from Lenovo that do not support VoLTE on Reliance Jio network is as follows:
- Vibe X3 Lite

- A6000 Plus

Now, for the likes of the Vibe K5 Note and Vibe K5 Plus, Lenovo will roll out a software update to enable VoLTE support on the handsets. However, the company has not announced a timeframe as to when the update will be available. Until then, your best bet is to use Reliance’s Jio4GVoice application.
Update: Lenovo has rolled out a software update that enables VoLTE on the Lenovo Vibe K5 Note.
Update 2: Lenovo has rolled out software updates to enable VoLTE on its Vibe K5 and Vibe K4 series of handsets.
