With the OnePlus 3/3T and many Sony Xperia handsets getting the Android 7.0 Nougat update, owners of Lenovo handsets like the Vibe K5 Note and K4 Note are also wondering as to when their device will be updated to the latest and sweetest version of Android yet.
If the version number jump did not already make it clear, Nougat comes with plenty of new features like multi-window multitasking, system-wide data saver mode, revamped Settings menu and notification panel, and more. So, it is understandable that owners of Lenovo handsets are excited about the update eventually being available for their handset. However, Lenovo has not really announced as to when and which all devices it plans on updating to Nougat.

While we don’t have any official confirmation from Lenovo, we have compiled a list of devices below along with an estimated timeframe as to when we believe they will get the Nougat, if at all.
Lenovo Z2 Plus
The Lenovo Z2 Plus is currently the most powerful smartphone in Lenovo’s lineup. Featuring a Snapdragon 820 chip, 4GB RAM and running ZUI, it is likely that we will see Lenovo update the Z2 Plus to Nougat in Q2 of this year. The update should first be available to the Chinese variant of the phone by the end of Q1 or in early Q2.
Lenovo K6 Note
The Lenovo K6 Note is the latest handset’s in Lenovo’s Note handset. Unveiled late last month, the K6 Note is powered by a Snapdragon 430 chipset and features 3GB RAM. Looking at its age and considering the fact that the handset runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow out of the box, the K6 Note will definitely get the Android 7.0 Nougat update. As for when, it is likely we will see the update being available for the handset in Q2 of this year, with pretty slim chances of the update landing just about at the end of Q1, 2017.
Lenovo K6 Power
The Lenovo K6 Power sports almost the same specifications as the K6 Note, right down to its Snapdragon 430 chipset. So, the phone should also get the Nougat update around the same time as the K6 Note.
Lenovo Vibe K5 Note
The Vibe K5 Note was launched by Lenovo in August last year. The handset features a 1.8GHz Helio P10 chipset which has more than enough oomph to run Nougat. Considering the age of the handset and that it launched with Marshmallow out of the box, Lenovo should roll out the Nougat update for the handset by the end of Q1 or in the first half of Q2.
Lenovo Vibe K5 Plus
The Lenovo Vibe K5 Plus launched with Android 5.1 Lollipop in April 2016 and is still stuck on the same version of Android. That alone says a lot about Lenovo’s priority on bringing Nougat to the K5 Plus (Hint: the phone is likely not going to get the update at all).
Lenovo Vibe K4 Note
The Lenovo Vibe K4 Note is just a year old at this point, but it comes with a relatively weak MT6753 MediaTek chipset running at 1.3GHz. Thus, it is unlikely that we will see Lenovo roll out the Nougat update for the Vibe K4 Note due to performance issues. The handset is likely going to struggle running two apps side-by-side in Nougat’s multi-window mode. However, if Lenovo does end up changing its mind and rolls out the Nougat update for the Vibe K4 Note, don’t expect it to be available before June or July of this year.
Lenovo Vibe K3 Note
Lenovo had first unveiled the Vibe K3 Note in March 2015. The handset features an octa-core MediaTek MT6752 chipset which despite being powerful is relatively old at this point. The handset had originally launched with Android 5.0 Lollipop and was updated to Marshmallow in 2016. Due to its age, its very unlikely that Lenovo will update the Vibe K3 Note to Android 7.0 Nougat.
