Motorola has been talking up the wood backs that it plans on releasing for the Moto X. Now instead of reading words, we can get a closeup look at two of the wood versions thanks to evleaks. The notable leakster also adds the tagline “THEY ARE STILL COMING”, written in all caps. The manufacturer said earlier this year that the wood backs would be available for Thanksgiving, but it had to revise that statement at the end of November. In a recent interview, Motorola CEO Dennis Woodside confirmed the backs would be “coming soon.” Soon, of course is relative and not as committal as we would like. “Soon? means the backings could arrive in a few days, a few weeks or even a few months.

When they do arrive, the backings will be real wood made from ebony, teak, rosewood, or bamboo. You’ll be able to choose this option using the Moto Maker tool and have the handset assembled and delivered to your door in just a few days. The Moto X  is available for $99 with a new two-year contract or for $499 without a contract.  Are you interested in a wood backed Moto X?
