LlabTooFeR is a popular source of HTC leaks in the industry. Well, he has now leaked yet another device earlier today, codenamed the HTC “Ocean Life”. This isn’t a high-end device and features hardware that one would associate with mid-tier smartphones.
The leak talks about some hardware specs of the handset, including a 5.2-inch 1080p display, the octa-core Snapdragon 660 chipset, a 16MP rear camera, a 16MP front camera, Android 7.1.1 Nougat, the all-new Bluetooth 5.0 standard and a 2,600 mAh battery.
LlabTooFeR also mentions that the phone will come with Sense 9, and other core HTC features like Edge Sense and HTC USonic audio. HTC Edge Sense is basically a blend of UI and hardware, allowing users to access certain features on the device with a “squeeze” of the handset.
Customers can set their own customized functions for the squeeze. Thanks to haptic feedback, customers can know when they’ve activated the feature. This feature has been called a gimmick by experts, and while it’s true to some extent, it’s no different from the features we’ve seen from innumerable manufacturers over the past few years. As for USonic, it basically offers enhanced audio performance with the company’s bundled headphones.
Since it’s still pretty much a leak, we have little to no information on when the phone will be officially revealed. But going by the hardware specs sheet, one can speculate that the phone will be priced close to $400 when it is launched.
