If you have been getting ads about installing DU Battery Booster on the lockscreen of your Android device recently, blame ES Explorer. With the latest update, the team behind ES File Explorer have bundled an adware with the app that shows ads of DU Battery Booster on the lockscreen. 

ES File Explorer is among the most popular file manager apps in the Google Play Store. Despite its free price tag, the app offers plenty of features that many other paid file managers in the Google Play Store lack.

Considering that the team behind ES Explorer already offers a paid version of the file manager for $2.99 that has more than 100,000+ downloads in the Google Play Store, it does feel unethical for them to bundle an adware in the free version of the app.

To fund development, the ES File Explorer team could have added ads in the free version of the app, which would have turned out to be a regular source of revenue for them without hurting the sentiments of their regular users. It could have also possibly led to an increase in the downloads of the paid version of the app. Instead, they added an adware that has led to long time users of the app leaving negative feedback and 1-star rating for it on the Play Store.

Right now, if you are an ES File Explorer user, I will recommend you to uninstall the app and switch over to other decent file managers like Solid File Explorer.
