OnePlus today released a new Open Beta build of OxygenOS for the OnePlus 5 and OnePlus 5T. Apart from fixing bugs and including a patch for the Spectre and Meltdown vulnerability, the latest OxygenOS beta also includes new gestures.
The first major new addition in this beta is new navigation gestures. This can be enabled after one disables the navigation bar from the Settings menu. This gesture-based navigation approach is similar to what Apple has taken with the iPhone X and iOS 11.
Another handy new addition in this update is the ability to change the incoming call gesture. Previously, one had to swipe down to receive an incoming call on the OnePlus 5/5T. This was the exact opposite of what Google uses in AOSP and other devices from Motorola/Lenovo etc. use. This ended up confusing new OnePlus 5/5T owners. Thankfully, this gesture can now be changed to swipe up like on the Pixel.
Additionally, OnePlus has also removed its controversial clipboard function from OxygenOS. The move comes after OnePlus was found to secretly transmit users clipboard data to servers hosted in China. While OnePlus refuted the claims, it has removed the feature altogether based on community feedback.
