While Kyocera may have launched a rugged device with a “sapphire shield” display for Verizon less than a week ago, that isn’t stopping them from announcing another device for T-Mobile. This handset, while rugged in its own right, may not be flaunting a sapphire glass display, but the price point may be perfect for someone out there.
Announced by T-Mobile on August 4, the Hydro Life is an IP57-certified device, which means it’s drop-proof, shock-proof and waterproof:
“Hydro Life is IP57 certified for protection against dust and full immersion in water up to a meter (3.28 feet) deep for up to 30 minutes. It is also certified to meet Military Standard 810G for protection against drops and shock. Tested to withstand drops, dunks, and spills, Hydro Life can handle the everyday unexpected.“
With that, you’ll get a 4.5-inch qHD IPS impact-resistent display, with a 5-megapixel camera on the back, a 2MP front-facing shooter, and a battery measured in at 2000mAh. The Hydro Life also features Wi-Fi Calling, one of T-Mobile’s growing standard features.
As far as pricing goes, you’ll be able to pick up the Hydro Life through Walmart stores beginning August 8 for $124.99 under T-Mobile’s umbrella. Or, if you happen to use MetroPCS, the same handset will go on sale for that regional carrier beginning August 29.
